I lost my progress.
Progress is stored on the device and is not backed up to an account, so reinstalling the app or switching phones starts a new climb — including a new leaderboard row, since the old one was tied to the old install. There is no way for us to restore it from our side, because we never had a copy of your progress. We are sorry — that is a real limitation of the current version, not a bug you did something to cause.
I am stuck on a level.
Fall once and the level gives you a free hint: tap the bulb in the bottom-right and a dotted line shows the route the level was designed around. On a vine, the line also shows where to let go — swing until you reach that angle, then release.
The monkey will not reach the next hold.
From a rock, drag further back for more power. From a vine, hold to build the swing, then release at the top of the arc rather than at the bottom — the arc is where the reach comes from.
Who are the other climbers on the leaderboard?
Real players, all of them. MONTHLY ranks everyone by the metres they have climbed since the 1st, and TODAY resets at midnight UTC — so someone who installed this morning can still place first on either. Neither board is a lifetime total: they reset, on purpose, so an early start does not lock everyone else out for good. With no connection the app shows the last ranking it downloaded and says how old it is under the list.
How do I change my name?
Tap the gear on the home screen, then the pencil next to your name. You get two changes, so the panel says how many you have left before you commit. Names are 2–14 letters, numbers and spaces.
It says my name isn’t allowed.
Nicknames are checked against a list of words we do not allow on a game played by children. The panel says which rule the name broke — too short, too long, an unsupported character, or a word on the list. Pick another and it will save. If you think an ordinary name was refused by mistake, tell us at support@nextad.ai and we will fix the list.
Someone’s nickname is offensive.
Write to support@nextad.ai with the name as it appears on the board. We remove it and the player is given a fresh one. There is no chat in GripTails, so a nickname is the only thing one player can show another.
Should I use my real name?
No — please don’t. Your nickname is public on the leaderboard. Nothing else about you is, and the game never asks for your real name.
Does the game need the internet?
No. Every level plays offline. A connection is only used to load the leaderboard and to send your own entry to it.
Is there anything to buy?
No. There are no in-app purchases and no ads. Gems are earned by playing and spent in the shop on hints and items.
How do I turn off the music?
Tap the gear on the home screen. Music and vibration have their own switches and the setting is remembered.
The screen rotated and the game stopped.
GripTails is portrait only. Recent versions lock the orientation; if you are on an older build, turn the phone upright and it resumes.

Everything you do stays on the device apart from your leaderboard entry — the generated nickname and your climb total — and anonymous gameplay measurement. To have either deleted, write to the address above and say which platform you played on.
